English Mastiffs

The English Mastiff is one of the most ancient dog breeds. Said to be dating all the way back to 3000 BC. By the end of World War II the breed was practically extinct as were most of the breeds in England . The breed was used for guard dogs, search and rescue, and they were even put in the arena with the gladiators in Rome. English Mastiffs are one of the biggest dogs on Earth. They can weigh up to two hundred pounds. Their life span is between ten to twelve years. The breed is usually calm and loves to socialize. When they are puppies they are just little balls of fur, but before you know it they will most likely weigh more than you.
